Types and importance of toys for younger children from Archaic to Hellenistic Greece

Abstract:

Bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá hračkami pro mladší děti v antickém Řecku od archaického po helénistické období. Stručně popisuje kontext dětství a hraček ve starověkém Řecku. Dále uvádí jednotlivé typy hraček a jejich význam. Součástí této práce je rozhovor s čtyřletým dítětem o hračkách a také katalog, který obsahuje nalezené hračky z načtené literatury a z online kolekcí muzeí. Cílem práce je poskytnutí přehledu o typech hraček antického Řecka a jejich významu.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with toys for younger children in ancient Greece from the Archaic to Hellenistic period. It briefly describes the context of childhood and toys in ancient Greece. Next, the thesis presents the types of toys and their importance. The bachelor’s thesis also includes an interview with a four-year child about toys and a catalogue, in which are found toys from read literature and online collections of museums. The thesis aims to provide an overview of the types of toys of ancient Greece and their importance.
