The Building and Artistic Representation of the so called Industrial Gentility in the Middle Moravia in the years 1880-1914

Abstract:

Práce se zaměřuje na stavební a uměleckou reprezentaci tzv. průmyslové šlechty. Vybranými osobnostmi jsou – Edmund Bochner von Stražisko, David rytíř Gutmann, Alfred von Skene ml. a Antonín Kunz. Za cíl si klade zjistit do jaké míry a jakými prostředky tato nová šlechta Rakousko-uherské monarchie navazuje na starou rodovou šlechtu. Reprezentace je spojena s veřejnými projevy a vždy vyžaduje diváka. Jednotlivé stavby se tak v rámci období historismu stávají reprezentanty konkrétní osoby. Volbou zvoleného slohu nabízí divákovi možnost ocenění kvality staveb a zároveň dešifrují její poslání.

Abstract:

This work focuses on the building and art representation of so called industrial aristocracy. There are following chosen personalities - Edmund Bochner of Stražisko, David Gutmann the Knight, Alfred of Skene Jr and Antonín Kunz. The aim of this work is to determine how far and using which means this new aristocracy of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy follows the old family aristocracy. The representation is connected with the public demonstrations and it always demands a spectator. The individual buildings become the representative of a specific person within the historicism period. Thanks to the choice of the selected style they offer the spectator both the possibility to evaluate the quality of the buildings and to decode their mission.
