The theme of La Celestine in La Dorotea of Lope de Vega

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis is focused on the influence of La Celestina on the great prose dialogue, La Dorotea, written by Lope de Vega. Our aim is to show that even though it used to be considered only a Lope´s autobiography, it contains several common features with La Celestina of Fernando de Rojas. La Dorotea isn´t the only one influenced by La Celestina. There are many autors inspired by the work of Rojas, composed entirely in dialogue. La Celestina is considered as a prototype work for the other autors like Feliciano de Silva, Gáspar Gómez de Toledo or Francisco Delicado. In this thesis we investigate the presence of the common characteristics of this kind of literature in La Dorotea.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá dielom La Dorotea od Lopeho de Vega, ktorá bola najskôr pokladaná len za autobiografický počin autora. Táto kniha má však veľa spoločného s dielom La Celestina od Fernanda de Rojas a to nielen formu dialógu, ale mnoho ďaľších znakov, typických pre literatúru označovanú ako “la celestinesca“, do ktorej patria autori ako Feliciano de Silva, Gaspar Gómez de Toledo, alebo Francisco Delicado. Cieľom tejto práce je dokázať spojitosť medzi dielom Lopeho de Vega a “celestinescou”.
