Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá kontroverzním tématem internace lidí japonského původu ve Spojených státech amerických během druhé světové války. Práce se zaměřuje na Američany japonského původu a způsob, jakým pobyt v koncentračních táborech ovlivnil jejich společnost. Tato práce mapuje v chronologickém pořadí vývoj společnosti japonských imigrantů a to od jejich příjezdů v devatenáctém století, až po jejich propuštění z internačních táborů na konci druhé světové války. Tento společenský vývoj je dán do souvislosti s politickými a společenskými událostmi, které se udály během tohoto časového období.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the controversial internment of people of Japanese ancestry during the Second World War with the focus placed on the Japanese American people and the way the internment experience in concentration camps changed their ethnic society. In chronological order, the thesis traces the evolution of the Japanese immigrant society from their arrival in the nineteenth century to their release from the internment camps after the end of the Second World War, and puts this evolution in relation to the political and social events that happened during this time span.
