Lanthanides fluoride nanoparticles in medicine

Abstract:

Nanočástice fluoridů gadolinia se v posledních letech staly předmětem mnoha studií. Jejich použití jako kontrastní činidla při zobrazení magnetickou rezonancí bylo dopováním Ln3+ ionty obohaceno o možnost použití jako činidla multimodálního zobrazení. S tím souvisí také velikost nanočástic a platí, že čím menší nanočástice jsou, tím hlouběji proniknout do tkání a poskytnou detailnější zobrazení. Z tohoto důvodu se práce zabývá syntézou nanočástic GdF3 a NaGdF4 a zkoumá závislost velikosti nanočástic na koncentraci reaktantů, reakční teplotě a na použitých surfaktantech. Látky byly charakterizovány pomocí rentgenové práškové difrakce, rastrovací elektronové mikroskopie, IČ spektroskopie a měřením dynamického rozptylu světla. Dále byly připraveny dopované nanočástice NaGdF4:Tb3+, u kterých byla zkoumána závislost koncentrace Tb3+ na intenzitě luminiscenčních vlastností.

Abstract:

In recent years, gadolinium fluoride nanoparticles have become the subject of many studies. They can be used as contrast agents in MRI and by doping them with Ln3+ ions, they can be utilized as the multimodal imaging agents. The size of these nanoparticles is important, because it holds that the smaller nanoparticles can more deeply penetrate into the tissue and provide a more detailed view. For this reason, the work deals with the synthesis of nanoparticles GdF3 and NaGdF4 and examines the size dependence of the nanoparticles on the concentration of reactants, temperature and the used surfactants. Substances were characterised by X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering technique. There were also prepared doped nanoparticles GdF3: Tb3+ and NaGdF4: Tb3+ and the dependence of Tb3+ concentration on the intensity of luminescence properties was studied.
