Analysis and comparison of inflation development in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic in the period from 2009 to 2017

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářská práce je analýza vývoje inflace v České a Slovenské republice ve zkoumaném období od roku 2009 do roku 2017 a následná komparace tohoto vývoje mezi oběma zeměmi. V teoretické části práce jsou přiblíženy teoretické pohledy na dané téma, popsány pojmy týkající se daného tématu, rozdělení a druhy inflace, metody měření inflace, dopady inflace a deflace a režimy měnové politiky.V praktické části práce je nejdříve provedena analýza inflace v České republice a Slovenské republice ve zkoumaném období od roku 2009 do roku 2017. Následně je provedena komparace vývoje inflace mezi oběma zeměmi. Tato komparace je rozdělena na dvě části, a to na komparaci pomocí bodového systému a komparaci na základě rozptylu. Z komparace na základě bodového systému vyplývá, že je ČNB v plnění svého inflačního cíle úspěšnější než ECB v plnění svého inflačního cíle. Z komparace na základě rozptylu vyplývá, že se lépe daří dosahovat stanovené stabilní míry inflace v malé otevřené ekonomice, která používá vlastní měnu (ilustrováno na příkladu České republiky) než v malé otevřené ekonomice, která je součástí měnové unie (ilustrováno na příkladu Slovenské republiky).

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the development of inflation in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic in the period from 2009 to 2017 and the subsequent comparison of these developments between the two countries. In the theoretical part of the thesis are presented the theoretical views on the given topic, the terms related to the topic, the distribution and types of inflation, the methods of inflation measurement, the effects of inflation and deflation and the monetary policy regimes. In the practical part of the thesis, an analysis of inflation in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic is carried out in the period under review from 2009 to 2017. A comparison of inflation is then made between these countries. This comparsion is divided into two parts, comparison by point systém and scatter-based comparison. The comparison based on the point systém shows, that the CNB is more successful in fulfilling its inflation target than the ECB. The scatter-based comparison demonstrates, that a small open economy, which uses its own currency (illustrated on the example of the Czech Republic) is better at achieving stable inflation target, than a small open economy, which is a part of the currency union (illustrated on the example of the Slovak Republic)
