Idols of High School Boys on Instagram and their Influence on Behavior of this Group

Anotácia:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na idoly (z řad veřejně známých osobností) chlapců - středoškoláků na Instagramu. Cílem je zjistit, které osobnosti si chlapci z dané věkové kategorie nejčastěji vystavují na této sociální síti, a co stojí za jejich popularitou právě u středoškoláků - co od svých idolů očekávají a zda své chování přizpůsobují chování svých idolů. Teoretická část práce je věnována zejména životu chlapců v daném věku a vztahu mezi celebritou a jejími fanoušky. Zaobírám se zde také teoriemi maskulinity, role modely a jejich vlivem na adolescenty, sociálními médii a Instagramem. Sběr dat proběhl na Instagramu mezi zmíněnou věkovou skupinou po dobu tří měsíců a zahrnoval každodenní sledování fotografií a videí týkajících se idolů na instagramových účtech, stories a highlights. Získané materiály byly následně podrobeny kvalitativní obsahové analýze.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis focuses on idols (celebrities) of high school boys on Instagram. My main aim is to ascertain which public figures do the boys from the said age group showcase the most on this social network and where their popularity among this group stems from - what do they expect from their idols and whether they adapt to their idol's behavior. The theoretical part of my work is mainly dedicated to boys' life at a given age and to the relationship between celebrity and their fans. In this part, I also concern myself with the theories of masculinity, role models and their influence on adolescents, social media and Instagram. I collected the data for three months on Instagram among the aforementioned age group which included daily tracking of photos and videos with the idol theme on Instagram accounts, in stories and highlights. After that, the acquired data were subjected to qualitative content analysis.
