This thesis gives the reader a comprehensive picture of the talent and exceptional personality of Mr. Otto Wichterle as well as showing the complex path of the development of his most famous inventions. The main field where Mr. Wichterle was invoved was organic and macromolecular chemistry. Mr. Wichterle was a pathfinder in macromolecular chemistry and a founder of this in our country.
