Influence of bonded aluminum content to properties of blast-furnace slag

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the influence of the content of bonded aluminum on the properties of blast furnace slag. Blast-furnace slag and the aluminum oxide were used in this work for samples of modified slags preparation. The prepared mixtures of the slag and the aluminum oxide were heat-treated (fired) at 800, 900 and 1000 °C. The samples were characterized by method of infrared spectroscopy. The hydrolysis of samples was investigated by monitoring of pH values changes pH suspensions and by analysis of extracts. Contents of SiO2, Ca2+ and Mg2+ were determined in the extracts. It was found that the stability of the slag in an aqueous environment increases with increasing amounts of added Al2O3 and with increasing firing temperature. The influence of the amount of added Al2O3 was evident in the results of samples fire at temperatures 800 °C and 900 °C. According to increasing content of Al2O3 at 1000°C there is no major changes. In the study of leachates of slag before and after the modification it was found that the contents of Ca, Mg and SiO2 in leachates decrease after the modification, which indicate reduced hydrolysis and the dissolution of the slag after modification.

Abstract:

Táto bakalárska práca sa zaoberá vplyvom obsahu viazaného hliníka na vlastnosti vysokopecnej trosky. V práci bola použitá vysokopecná troska a oxid hlinitý, z ktorých boli vyrobené vzorky modifikovaných trosiek. Pripravené zmesi trosky s oxidom hlinitým boli tepelne upravené (vypálené) pri teplotách 800, 900 a 1000°C. Vzorky boli charakterizované metódou infračervenej spektrometrie. Ďalej bola skúmaná hydrolýza vzoriek sledovaním zmien pH suspenzií a analýzou výluhov. Vo výluhoch boli stanovované obsahy SiO2, Ca2+ a Mg2+. Bolo zistené, že stabilita trosky vo vodnom prostredí stúpa s rastúcim množstvom pridaného Al2O3 a zároveň s rastúcou teplotou výpalu. Pri teplotách výpalu 800°C a 900°C bol vo výsledkoch evidentný vplyv množstva pridaného Al2O3. Pri 1000°C už k väčším zmenám v závislosti na rastúcom obsahu Al2O3 nedochádza. Pri štúdii výluhov trosky pred a po modifikácii bolo zistené, že po modifikácii klesá obsah Ca, Mg a SiO2 vo výluhoch, čo indikuje zníženú hydrolýzu a rozpad trosky po modifikácii.
