Regional election in France 2015

Abstract:

Ve Francii byla v roce 2014 schválena územní reforma, která změnila politickou mapu země a snížila počet regionů z 22 na 13. Soustředila jsem se na to, jak by dopadly volební výsledky z posledních voleb, prosince 2015 bez fúze - tedy se 22 regiony. Práce zkoumá, jaký vliv měla reforma na politické uspořádání regionů. Byly zachovány tradiční politické linie? Které strany na změně vydělaly a které naopak? Poznatky byly zasazeny do teoretického konceptu druhořadých voleb od politologů Reifa a Schmitta. V rámci komparace výsledků jsem zjistila, že socialistická strana získala díky fúzi prvenství jeden region navíc, na úkor krajně-pravicové strany – Národní fronty.

Abstract:

In France, 2014, new territorial reform was approved, result was the change of political map, which reduced the number of the regions from 22 to 13. My work focus on how the election results from December 2015 would have ended with or without this fusion of regions. The paper studies the influence of fusion on the political arrangement of regions. Did the traditional political lines preserved? Which parties did gain on the fusion and which parties lose? Paper is set in the theoretical concept of second-order election developed by political scientist Reif and Schmitt. During the comparison emerged the key information. As the result of the territorial reform, Socialist party gained one more region, at the expense of the right populist party – National front.
