Fraud Detection Systems

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá v teoretické části tématem podvodů, ať už z pohledu jejich definice, typů, důvodů vzniku, tak také nasbíranými statistickými údaji z této oblasti. V práci jsou dále popsané možnosti prevence a detekce podvodného jednání ve firmách, včetně nastavení anti-fraud politiky, risk managementu a kontrolních mechanismů. V další části se práce věnuje systémům na detekci podvodů. Práce popisuje i některé z nejpoužívanějších metod zahrnovaných v současnosti do fraud detection systémů. Dále v práci byl proveden průzkum trhu ohledně dostupných řešení v oblasti detekce podvodů, a to jak ze sféry placených nástrojů, tak ze sféry nástrojů přístupných každému zdarma. Výstupem z tohoto průzkumu jsou dvě tabulky, které mezi sebou identifikovaná řešení porovnávají v základních kritériích, jako jsou zaměření, případy použití a hlavní vlastnosti a funkcionality systémů, možnosti integrace a cena v případě placených řešení. Na základě všech zjištění získaných při vzniku této práce bylo vytvořeno i krátké návodné doporučení pro výběr a zavádění nového fraud detection systému, a to z pohledu odvětví e-commerce, jenž dnes může sloužit jako typická oblast, kde jsou tyto nástroje potřeba.

Abstract:

In theoretical part, this master thesis focuses on the topic of fraud and its definitions, types, reasons of occurrence and also on gathered statistical data from this field. Thesis also describes the possibilities of prevention and detection of the fraudulent behaviour in organizations, including setting up an anti-fraud policy, risk management and fraud control mechanisms. In the next part, the thesis focuses on the fraud management and detection systems. Also, the most used methods used in systems for fraud detection are identified and described. There was also done research of the available fraud management and detection solutions, including both paid and free to use tools. The output of this research was summarized into two tables, in which the fraud detection solutions are compared to each other by the set criteria, such as the system´s field focus, common use cases, key features and functionalities, integration possibilities and price in the case of paid solutions. Based on all the findings obtained during the creation of this master thesis, a short guiding recommendation was created for the selection and implementation of a new fraud detection system, from the perspective of the e-commerce industry, which today can serve as a typical area where these tools are needed.
