Translation of the Tourist Guides (on the Example of the Area Bergstraße)

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the theme of the tourist guide’s translation. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part treats of the specialized translation and its signs, and further of the interpreter’s competences. The next chapter is about a tourist guide, its integration into the domain, function and intention. The last main point of the theoretical part is the question of the guide’s translation, whereas is the theme of the proper nouns in detail analysed. These are typical for the tourist guides. The practical part of the thesis deals with the commented translation of one part from a guide from German language into Czech. For this translation was chosen the area Bergstraße in Germany from the book Odenwald mit Bergstraße, Darmstadt, Heidelberg by Stephanie Aurelia Runge. To the problem parts of the text is written a comment with the solutions of the translation. To the end is compiled a glossary.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem překladu turistických průvodců. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část pojednává o odborném překladu a jeho znacích, dále o kompetencích překladatele. Další kapitolou je samotný turistický průvodce, jeho začlenění do oboru, funkce a účel. Posledním důležitým bodem teoretické části je problematika překladu průvodců, přičemž je podrobně rozebrána tématika překladu vlastních jmen, která jsou pro turistické průvodce typická. Praktická část práce je zaměřena na komentovaný překlad části průvodce z německého jazyka do českého. Pro tento překlad byla vybrána oblast Bergstraße v Německu z knihy Odenwald mit Bergstraße, Darmstadt, Heidelberg od autorky Stephanie Aurelie Runge. K problematickým částem textu je napsán komentář s řešením překladu. Na konci je sestaven glosář.
