The depiction of the post-war Germany in the movies The Marriage of Maria Braun and Phoenix

Abstract:

Anotace Bakalářská práce se věnuje analýze dvou německých filmů, které zachycují dobu poválečného Německa. Jedná se o film Manželství Marie Braunové z roku 1978 od režiséra Rainera Wernera Fassbindera, který patří do skupiny režisérů nového ně-meckého filmu. Druhým klíčovým filmem je Fénix od režiséra berlínské školy Christi-ana Petzolda z roku 2014. První dvě kapitoly práce seznamují s oběma režiséry. Za-měřují se na život obou autorů, dále na jejich filmovou tvorbu a její typické znaky, na závěr přibližují děj klíčových filmů. Ve třetí kapitole práce vytyčuje důležité historic-ké reálie poválečného Německa. V posledních kapitolách se práce zaměřuje na sa-motnou analýzu a reflexi obou filmů a na rysy těchto snímků: jejich autorské pojetí, stylovou koncepci a na hlavní hrdinky.

Abstract:

Abstract The bachelor’s thesis deals with the analysis of two German films, which depict the period of post-war Germany. One of the movies is called The Marriage of Maria Braun, which was made in the year 1978 by the director Rainer Werner Fassbinder, who belonged to the group of directors of new German films. The second key movie is Phoenix by the director of Berlin school Christian Petzold, which was made in the year 2014. The first two chapters introduce both directors. They focus on their bi-ography, on their film production and its typical features, and at the end of these capitols, they focus on the plot of the movies. In the third chapter, the bachelor the-sis lay out important historical facts from post-war Germany. The last two chapters concentrate on the analysis and reflection of both movies and the features of them both: the author’s conception, stylist concept, and the lead female roles.
