The Development of Czech Financial Market and its Segments in terms of Additional Integration

Abstract:

Disertační práce se věnuje problematice integrace finančních trhů, přičemž pozornost je věnována jak integraci českého finančního trhu do trhu Evropské unie (EU), tedy vytváření jednotného evropského finančního trhu, tak i integračním tendencím mezi jednotlivými sektory finančního trhu, zejména mezi sektorem bankovnictví a pojišťovnictví. Úvodní část práce pojednává o evropské ekonomické integraci a vytváření jednotného evropského finančního trhu. Stěžejní část práce se zabývá analýzou procesu integrace z pohledu harmonizace právního rámce českého finančního trhu s legislativou EU. V práci je analyzována problematika finančních konglomerátů působících na evropském finančním trhu a jejich spolupráce formou uplatňování bankopojišťovacích strategií. V neposlední řadě je věnována pozornost problematice kapitálové přiměřenosti a solventnosti na finančním trhu ČR v souvislosti s nástupem nových regulačních rámců Basel III a Solvency II. Závěrečná kapitola je zaměřena na jedno ze současných dominantních témat, tedy risk management institucí finančního trhu v rámci mezisektoriální integrace. Součástí je analýza rizik integrovaného finančního trhu a podrobné představení nejvyužívanější metody risk managementu, tedy stresového testování, s důrazem na jeho provádění v sektoru pojišťovnictví. V této kapitole je rovněž prezentována možná budoucí forma mezisektoriální spolupráce v oblasti risk managementu zaměřeném na odhalování pojistných a úvěrových podvodů, kterými je ohrožována finanční stabilita pojišťoven a bank.

Abstract:

Dissertation is dedicated to the integration of financial markets. Attention is given to the integration of the Czech financial market into the market of the European Union (EU), thus creating a single European financial market, and to integration tendencies among different sectors of the financial market, especially between the banking sector and insurance sector. The introductory part of dissertation deals with European economic integration and the creation of a single European financial market. The main part is concerned with an analysis of the integration process from the perspective of harmonization of the legal framework of the Czech financial market with EU legislation. The issue of financial conglomerates operating in the European financial market and their cooperation through the implementation of bancassurance strategy is analyzed. Finally, the attention is paid to the issue of capital adequacy and solvency in the financial market of the Czech Republic in connection with the emergence of new regulatory frameworks, Basel III and Solvency II. The final chapter focuses on one of the current dominant themes, namely risk management of financial institutions within the cross-sector integration. Risk analysis of integrated financial market and a detailed presentation of the most frequently used method of risk management, i.e. stress testing with emphasis on its implementation in the insurance sector are included in this chapter. The chapter also presents a possible future form of cross-sector cooperation in the area of risk management aimed at the detection of insurance frauds and credit frauds, by which the financial stability of insurance companies and banks is threatened.
