Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou ženských postav a jejich charakteristickým vyobrazením ve staroanglické literatuře. Cílem této práce je prozkoumat typické role, které ženy v literatuře té doby plnily pomocí detailní analýzy vybraných literárních děl psaných ve staré angličtině a zjistit, do jaké míry jsou tyto ženské role nepostradatelné pro vývoj děje. Dále má tato práce za úkol porovnat funkci žen v literatuře s pozicí žen v tehdejší společnosti a také dohledat další vlivy, které působily na autory, pod jejichž pery přicházely k životu postavy oslavované dodnes.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the analysis of female characters and their characteristic depictions in Old English literature. The aim of this work is to examine typical roles women played in the literature of the period by a detailed analysis of selected literary pieces written in Old English and decide to what extent these roles are essential for the plot development. Furthermore, this thesis compares the function of females in literature with the position of women in medieval society. It also traces other influences that affected poets under whose pens the female characters celebrated to this day came to life.
