The Creative Process Model of Sonification

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce Model tvůrčího procesu sonifikace je podat ucelený pohled na proces sonifikace a odpovědět na otázku, „co ve své podstatě dělá umělec, když sonifikuje již existující data?“ V úvodní části vysvětlím pojem sonifikace a popíši její historii. Na základě případových studií a teorie sonifikace definuji základní parametry tvůrčího procesu při sonifikaci a výsledek budu konfrontovat s reflexí vizualizace a mappingu jako s typem tvorby principálně shodným se sonifikací, s vybranými závěry postmoderní filozofie (teorií o postmoderní době Zygmunta Baumana), a nakonec s pracovními postupy, které jsou v úvahách současného umění označovány jako „postprodukce“.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis The Creative Process Model of Sonification aims at delivering complete overview of the sonification process and also to answer the fundamental question: "What does an artist basically do, when sonifying an already existing data?" Introduction will describe the term Sonification and gives an overview of its history. Fundamental parameters of a creative proces will be defined based on case studies and theory of sonification and results will be compared with visualization and mapping reflexion as with basically equal type of arts as sonification, with chosen conclusions of postmodern philosophy (postmodern era theory of Zygmunt Bauman), and finally with working processes, that are known as "postproduction" in the reflextion of contemporary arts.
