Oral hygiene education among 15-year-old adolescents

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o výchově k ústní hygieně u adolescentů ve věku 15 let. Teoretická část se zabývá celkovým psychologickým vývojem adolescentů a jejich vztahů a komunikace s okolím, následuje popis vývoje chrupu spolu s charakteristikou jak dočasné, tak stálé dentice a jejich rozdíly, výčet nejčastějších onemocnění tvrdých zubních tkání a okolí zubu typické pro zvolenou věkovou kategorii. Svoje místo zde má i kapitola o prevenci a profylaxi, které jsou základním kamenem celé dentální hygieny. V neposlední řadě je nastíněn i samotný průběh návštěvy adolescenta v ordinaci dentální hygienistky zahrnující vyšetření, ošetření a získání pacienta na stranu odborníka. Je zde snaha o dosažení co nejlepší úrovně dentální hygieny prováděné pacientem v domácím prostředí, k čemuž jsou zapotřebí dostatek kvalitních informací a především neustálá motivace pacienta, která slouží jako jeho hnací síla. Praktická část se zabývá zjišťováním postoje rodičů k jejich orálnímu zdraví, a tak i k orálnímu zdraví jejich dětí ve zvolené věkové skupině 15 let. Cílem této práce je snaha o co největší přiblížení a tak i pochopení adolescentů, jež je třeba intenzivně edukovat v oblasti orálního zdraví, jelikož právě oni se nachází v kritickém věku pro vznik závažných onemocnění zubu a jeho okolních tkání, kterým je třeba předcházet.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of oral hygiene education among 15-year-old adolescents. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the general psychological development of adolescents, their relationships and communication with the environment, followed by the description of the development of a teeth together with the characteristics of both temporary and permanent dentition and the differences between them, and with a list of the most common diseases of tooth and soft tissues of the oral cavity typical for the chosen age group. There is also a chapter discussing prevention and prophylaxis as they are the key topics of dental hygiene. At the end of the theoretical part there is a brief description of examination and treatment of an adolescent patient visiting the dental hygienist. There is an effort to achieve the best possible level of dental hygiene carried out by the patient at home. The patient needs plenty of good quality information and, above all, the right motivation. The practical part deals with the survey of parental attitude to their oral health, as well as the oral health of their children in chosen age group. The aim of this thesis is to give the greatest approach and understanding of adolescents who have to be intensively educated on oral health, since they are at a critical age for a lot of serious diseases of a tooth and its surrounding soft tissues, which have to be prevented.
