Protective metal coatings and coatings containing metallic pigments for structural steel

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo stanovení vlivu obsahu kovového zinku v nátěrovém filmu, při kterém je dosaženo maximální účinnosti ochrany vůči korozním projevům v simulovaných korozních atmosférách a porovnání zjištěné účinnosti s chemicky působícím antikorozním pigmentem na bázi fosforečnanu zinečnatého. Pro splnění cílů práce byla provedena studie naformulovaných modelových nátěrových hmot na bázi epoxyesterové pryskyřice s obsahem antikorozních anorganických pigmentů na bázi zinku a fosforečnanu zinečnatého ve dvou řadách s postupně zvyšujícím se hodnotou OKP = 5 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, 25 %, 30 %, 35 % a 40 %, poslední modelová nátěrová hmota byla s obsahem vápence s hodnotou OKP = 40 %. V průběhu experimentální části práce bylo provedeno testování a vyhodnocení fyzikálně-chemických, fyzikálně-mechanických a korozních vlastností naformulovaných organických povlaků, kdy na základě těchto výsledků byly porovnávány mechanické vlastnosti a korozní odolnost v závislosti na typu použitého antikorozního pigmentu. Testované nátěrové hmoty byly aplikovány na skleněné a ocelové panely, kde byly následně prováděny laboratorní zkoušky. Pro organické povlaky aplikované na skleněných podkladech byly provedeny zkoušky MEK testu, měření čísla lesku, odolnosti vůči vtisku, měření relativní povrchové tvrdosti a hodnocení přilnavosti mřížkovou metodou. Pro organické povlaky aplikované na ocelových podkladech byly provedeny zkoušky fyzikálně-mechanické a korozní. Fyzikálně-mechanické zkoušky podrobené organickým povlakům na ocelových podkladech byly hodnocení přilnavosti mřížkovou metodou, odolnost vůči hloubení, odolnost vůči ohybu a odolnost vůči deformaci úderem. Dále byla hodnocena korozní odolnost testovaných organických povlaků zrychlenými korozními zkouškami v kombinované zkoušce ve vlhké atmosféře s obsahem oxidu siřičitého a v atmosféře neutrální solné mlhy, dále v atmosféře neutrální solné mlhy a v kondenzační komoře. Na základě hodnocení bylo doporučení konkrétního typu korozního prostředí pro jednotlivé testované organické povlaky podle výsledků cyklických korozních zkoušek.

Abstract:

The aim of the work was to determine the effect of zinc metal content in the coatings film, which achieves the maximum effectiveness of corrosion protection in simulated corrosive atmospheres and compares the effectiveness with a chemically acting anti-corrosion pigment based on zinc phosphate. To meet the objectives of the work was performed a study of formulated model paints based on epoxy ester resin containing anticorrosive inorganic pigments based on zinc and zinc phosphate in two rows with gradually increasing value of PVC = 5 %, 10 %, 15 %, 20 %, 25 % , 30 %, 35 % and 40 %, the last model paint was with a limestone content with a value of PVC = 40 %. During the experimental part of the work, testing and evaluation of physico-chemical, physico-mechanical and corrosion properties of formulated organic coatings were performed, comparing the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance depending on the type of anticorrosion pigment used. The tested coatings were applied to glass and steel panels, where laboratory tests were subsequently performed. For organic coatings applied to glass substrates, MEK test tests, gloss number measurements, impression resistance, relative surface hardness measurements and adhesion evaluation by the grid method were performed. Physico-mechanical and corrosion tests were performed for organic coatings applied to steel substrates. Physico-mechanical tests subjected to organic coatings on steel substrates were evaluation of adhesion by the grid method, resistance to excavation, resistance to bending and resistance to impact deformation. Furthermore, the corrosion resistance of the tested organic coatings was evaluated by accelerated corrosion tests in a combined test in a humid atmosphere containing sulfur dioxide and in a neutral salt spray atmosphere, as well as in a neutral salt spray atmosphere and in a condensation chamber. Based on the evaluation, a specific type of corrosion environment was recommended for the individual organic coatings tested according to the results of cyclic corrosion tests. In the case of organic coatings with zinc content at PVC values = 35 % and 40 %, there was a significant increase in the protective effect in the cut area and the resistance of the films to blistering in the area and in the cut of the studied paint film. These results were also confirmed by the electrochemical technique of linear polarization. When comparing organic coatings with zinc and zinc phosphate content at PVC values = 5 %, 10 %, 15 % and 20 %, similar values of polarization resistances were achieved. Significant differences in the values of polarization resistances of organic coatings with zinc or zinc phosphate content occurred at PVC = 25 %. The highest difference in polarization resistances was recorded for organic coatings at a value close to CPVC, when organic coatings with zinc phosphate content at PVC = 35 % and 40 % achieved one order of magnitude lower polarization resistances compared to organic coatings with zinc content at PVC = 40 %. From the above results, it is clear that of the studied organic coatings, the highest corrosion resistance was achieved by an organic coating with a zinc content at the value of PVC = 40 %, when no occurrence of corrosion was recorded in this organic coating.
