Abstract:

Období střední angličtiny přineslo základní změny anglického jazyka v gramatice i slovní zásobě. Proces postupné změny z vysoce syntetického jazyka střední angličtiny v analytický jazyk pozdní střední angličtiny a moderní angličtiny je evidentní v poklesu užívání přípon podstatných a přídavných jmen. Teoretická část nastiňuje hlavní období historie anglického jazyka společně s jejich charakteristickými znaky. Tato část také podrobně popisuje znaky střední angličtiny se zaměřením na gramatické změny sledované v praktické části. Praktická část analyzuje ukázky textů střední angličtiny k popsání postupného poklesu užívání přípon.

Abstract:

The Middle English period brought fundamental changes in the English language both in grammar and vocabulary. The process of gradual development from the highly synthetic language of the Old English period to the analytic language of the Late Middle English and Modern English period can be observed through the reduction of inflections. The theoretical part outlines the main periods in the history of English language along with distinct features characteristic of them. This part also describes in detail the aspects of Middle English with emphasis on the grammatical changes dealt with in the practical part. The practical part analyses samples of Middle English texts in order to describe the continuous reduction of inflection in nouns and adjectives and their concord.
