Selected Students Personality Dimension of Artistic and Technical Fields

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá vybranými osobnostními dimenzemi studentů uměleckých a technických oborů. Cílem práce je komparace a analýza těchto dimenzí. Teoretická části se práce věnuje především osobnosti umělce a jeho hlavními rysy. Zaměřuje se také na historický vývoj umění a osobnosti umělce dodnes a končí současnými vědeckými poznatky o osobnosti umělce a studentech umění. V empirické části se práce věnuje komparaci osobnostních dimenzí studentů uměleckých a technických oborů. Tyto dimenze byly zjišťovány osobnostním inventářem NEO-PI a dotazníkem MBTI. Ve shodě se zahraničními výzkumy skórují signifikantně výše umělci v preferenci rysů "neuroticismus", "otevřenost ke zkušenostem", "intuici" a "cítění". Ve sporu se zahraničními výzkumy se u dimenze "vnímání" u umělců neprokázalo vyšší skóre, než u techniků. Dimenze "extroverze" se neprokázala být významnou a zahraniční studie také neshodují na jednoznačných výsledcích. Výzkum byl realizován na vzorku 133 studentů, z něhož bylo 74 respondentů středoškolských studentů uměleckých oborů a 59 respondentů středoškolských technických oborů.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with chosen character dimensions of art students and students of technical subjects. The aim of the thesis is to compare and analyze these dimensions. The theoretical part of the thesis addresses mostly the character of an artist and it´s main features. It is also focused on historical development of art and the character of an artist up to the present day and it ends with contemporary findings about the character of an artist and art students. The empirical part of the thesis is dedicated to the comparison of character dimensions of art sudents to those of students of technical subjects. These dimensions were surveyed using character inventory NEO-PI and MBTI questionnaire. In accordance with foreign research art sudents scored significantly higher in preference of attributes ´neuroticism´, ´openness´ to new experiences´, ´intuition´ and ´feeling´. In conflict with foreign research art students have not scored significantly higher in the dimension ´perception´ than students of technical subjects. The dimension ´extroversion´ has not proven to be significant and findings of foreign researchers are not consistent too. The research has been done on a sample of 133 students out of which 74 questioned were students of art subjects and 59 questioned were students of technical subjects.
