Sustainability of Tourism in the Giant Mountains National Park

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá udržitelností Krkonošského národního parku a města Špindlerův Mlýn, které patří k nejnavštěvovanějším ve středních Krkonoších. V práci se zabývám aktuálním tématem, kterým jsou odpady. Množství odpadu je na horách a v národním parku velké, proto je důležité s touto problematikou seznamovat návštěvníky a informovat je co nejlépe. Cílem mé práce je analyzovat stávající dopady na cestovní ruch v Krkonoších. Zkoumaným městem, co se týče odpadového hospodářství, tříděného odpadu a odpadních vod je Špindlerův Mlýn. V teoreticko-metodologické části se zabývám teoretickými poznatky z oblasti cestovního ruchu a zaměřuji se hlavně na udržitelnost. Důležité je dělení druhů a forem cestovního ruchu. Analytická část obsahuje důležité informace o Krkonošském národním parku a produkci odpadů v něm, dále také informace o akcích pořádaných Správou KRNAP a Skiareálem Špindlerův Mlýn. Vypracovaná je SWOT analýza, která pojednává o udržitelnosti cestovního ruchu v Krkonošském národním parku. Poslední kapitolu analytické části tvoří odpady ve Špindlerově Mlýně a čistírna odpadních vod, která zajišťuje pitnou vodu pro město. V závěrečné části je navržen piktogram, který by měl pomoci od papírových kapesníčků v lesích, které tam odhazují turisté. Důležité je poukazovat na tuto skutečnost ještě více v informačních materiálech, a hlavně výstražnou tabulkou o tom, že se papírové kapesníčky do lesa nevyhazují. Protože v horách platí, co si s sebou přinesu, to si i odnesu.

Abstract:

The master thesis focuses on sustainability of the tourism industry in the Giant Mountains National park and in Špindlerův Mlýn, which is one of the most visited places in the central Giant Mountains. Waste as a current issue is described. An amount of waste is high in the mountains and in the National park, so it is important to inform tourists in the best possible way. The aim of the master’s thesis is to analyse current impacts on tourism in the Giant Mountains, particularly in Špindlerův Mlýn. It is focused on waste economy, waste separation and sewage there. In the theory methodology part, the theory of the tourism industry is described, especially sustainability. Also, the division of types and forms of the tourism industry is important. In the analytical part the Giant Mountains National park itself, waste in the Giant Mountains National park and events organized by KRNAP board and Špindlerův Mlýn ski centre are important. There is the SWOT analysis about sustainability in the Giant Mountains National park. The last part of the analytical part deals with waste in Špindlerův Mlýn and it’s sewage treatment plant, which is a source of drinkable water there. In conclusion the sign that should point out and discourage tourists from paper tissue throwing in forests is designed. It is important to inform tourists more about this issue in promotional materials and by warning boards. There is an unwritten rule in forests that what I bring there I carry away as well.
