Local press as an instrument of communistic propaganda: Olomouc "Stáž lidu" in 1948-1960

Abstract:

Regionální noviny Stráž lidu byly v letech 1948-1960 jedním z nejvýznamnějších zdrojů informací o dění v Olomouckém kraji a po té co se KSČ chopila moci v únoru 1948 patřily k dominantním nástrojům komunistické propagandy. Charakteristika způsobu práce redakce, systému řízení či tvorby těchto novin a celá tato diplomová práce je tudíž užitečným dílčím příspěvkem ke studiu fungování komunistické propagandy v Československu v padesátých letech 20. století. Na základě studia archivních dokumentů i související literatury je zpracováno v místním měřítku Olomouckého kraje a Stráže lidu dosud opomíjené téma. Definujeme zákonitosti ovlivňující práci redakce, vývoj vztahů s nadřízenými politickými orgány či čtenářem. Veškeré popisované dění na mediální scéně v regionu je dáno do souvislosti s politickým vývojem, konfrontováno s teoretickými marxisticko-leninskými nároky a je zařazeno do kontextu direktiv daných politickým ústředím v Praze nebo procesu vytváření jednotně stranicky řízené mediální sféry

Abstract:

Local newspaper called "Stráž lidu" was one of the most important information source of events in Olomouc country in 1948-1960 and after that "KSČ" (political party) took the power in February 1948 it belonged to the dominant instruments of communistic propaganda. Characteristics of the way of the work in editorial board, direction structure (system of directing-to bude asi lepsi)or production of the newspaper and the whole thesis is thus helpful contribution for the research of the functioning of communistic propaganda in Czechoslovakia in 1950´s. Constantly ignored topic is compiled on the basis of archival documents and related literature study in the local benchmark of Olomouc county and ``Stráž lidu". We define patterns, which influence the work of the editorial board, development of relationships with superior political authorities or a reader. All referred events on the regional media scene are given to the context with political course of events, they are confronted with theoretical Marxist-Leninist's requirements and put into the context of directives, which were given by the political headquarters in Prague or the process of constitution politically unified media sphere
