The vicious circle of poverty - the issue of long-term unemployment in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Abstrakt V bakalářské práci je představen jeden z nejdůležitějších ekonomických problémů, a to dlouhodobá nezaměstnanost. Práce je zpracována na základě získaných statistických údajů, díky nimž jsou odhaleny důvody vzniku dlouhodobé nezaměstnanosti i jejich následky. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena do několika částí, přičemž je každá z nich zaměřena na specifickou problematiku. V teoretické části je zmíněno, co název práce přesně znamená a jsou zde vystiženy ekonomické a sociální aspekty vývoje. Kromě toho jsou vytyčeny dopady na obyvatelstvo České republiky, a je stanoveno několik hypotéz, což je poté prodiskutováno v navazující aplikační části. Zároveň jsou zde shrnuty postupy realizace práce. Dotazníkové šetření je představeno jako zásadní bod, na jehož základě je zjištěn osobní postoj respondentů k danému tématu a následně je zhodnocena dlouhodobá nezaměstnanost hlavně v regionu Prachaticka. Aplikační část je tudíž znázorněna jako hlavní intence, kde je pracováno především s výsledky dotazníkového šetření a s následným uplatněním získaných poznatků do praxe. Nedílnou součást zobrazuje SWOT analýza, s jejíž pomocí bylo umožněno nejen potvrdit či vyvrátit stanovené hypotézy, ale též došlo k celkovému zhodnocení řešené oblasti. Předkládaná bakalářská práce může být považována na základě výše uvedených parametrů za průvodce vzniku a vývoje ekonomického fenoménu, který způsobuje mnoho životních úskalí, ale i za soubor aktuálně získaných materiálů ze statistických úřadů. Jeden ze zásadních prvků je např. znázorněn v analýze srovnání aktuálního stavu nezaměstnanosti v ČR a Evropské unii. V rámci realizace práce bylo zjištěno, že je nezaměstnanost na Prachaticku způsobena zejména nedostatkem firem a investorů, kteří by nabízeli volná pracovní místa. Proto byly stanoveny některé návrhy vedoucí ke stabilizaci a stagnaci růstu nezaměstnanosti.

Abstract:

Abstract This Bachelor thesis introduces one of the most important economic problems, namely a long-term unemployment. The thesis is prepared on the acquired statistical data that reveal the reasons for the origination of the long-term unemployment as well as its consequences. This Bachelor thesis is divided into several parts, whereas each of them focuses on a specific issue. The theoretical part explains the exact meaning of the thesis’ title and describes economic and social aspects of the development. Furthermore, the impacts on the population of the Czech Republic are identified and several hypotheses are set there; they are discussed afterward in the following application part. Simultaneously in this part are summarized the thesis realization methods. The questionnaire survey is introduced as a fundamental point based on which is identified personal opinion of respondents on given subject-matter. Subsequently, the long-term unemployment - primarily in the Prachatice region - is analysed. Thus the application part is represented as the main intention where is above all worked with the results of the questionnaire survey and with the subsequent application of obtained results into practice. An integral part is visualised by the SWOT analysis by which it was possible not only to confirm or refute the set hypotheses but also to overall evaluate the addressed fields. Based on the above stated parameters, the presented Bachelor thesis can be considered not only as a guide to the origin and development of an economic phenomenon which causes many life difficulties but also as a collection of currently obtained data from the statistic offices. One of the fundamental elements is for example depicted in a comparison analysis of current unemployment in the Czech Republic and the European Union. Within the implementation of the thesis it was found that the unemployment in the Prachatice region is above all caused by the absence of companies and investors who would offer vacant job openings. Therefore some proposals leading to stabilization and stagnation in unemployment were introduced.
