The Profile of Alois Hajda's Stage Direction

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Režijní profil Aloise Hajdy v první řadě mapuje režijní tvorbu Aloise Hajdy pomocí popisu a analýz inscenací z vrcholného období jeho kariéry v Mahenově činohře Státního divadla v Brně v souvislosti s tehdejším uměleckým programem politického divadla mezi lety 1962 – 1971. Důležitým faktorem je pak tvůrčí cesta Aloise Hajdy od inscenačního pojetí 50. let (požadavek socialistického realismu) k neiluzivnímu divadelnímu projevu v Městském divadle Kladno a především Mahenově činohře, kde se v průběhu deseti let zorientoval v divadelních poetikách (Lyrické divadlo E. F. Buriana, epické divadlo B. Brechta, meziválečná sovětská avantgarda a později i Artaudova vize Divadla krutosti aplikovaného přes Grotowského experimenty), diky čemuž si vytvořil osobitý způsob režijní interpretace a nalezl svébytný inscenační styl. Práce dále sleduje genezi Hajdova režijního stylu v součinnosti s vývojem programu Mahenovy činohry, na němž se aktivně podílel, a jenž se opíral právě o meziválečnou avantgardu a brechtovskou poetiku. Důraz je pak kladen i na vývoj uměleckého programu činohry a dalších osobností (Srba, Hynšt, Sokolovský a Kundera), které jej utvářely a zároveň naplňovaly. Opomenuty nejsou ani životopisné údaje týkající se např. Hajdovy pedagogické činnosti na Divadelní fakultě JAMU a stručný přehled jeho působení v divadlech v Uherském Hradišti, Českých Budějovicích a Městském divadle Kladno, jimiž prošel v průběhu 50. let po ukončení studií na JAMU.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis The Profile of Alois Hajda, the Stage Director maps Hajda's work. It does so through description and analysis of the stagings from the top period of his career. This period spans his work for the Mahen Theater of the State Theater in Brno in relation to the program of political theater between 1962 and 1971. As a crucial point we can view the creative journey of Alois Hajda from the ways of the 50s (the demands of social realism) to the non-illusory theatrical expression of the Municipal Theater in Kladno and, above all, in Mahen Theater where, during the decade he spent there, he oriented himself among various types of theatrical poetics (E. F. Burian's lyrical theater, Brecht's epic theater, Soviet interwar avant-garde, and later Artaud's vision of theater of cruelty applied through Grotowski's experiments),and created his own particular style of text interpreting and stage directing. The thesis also follows genesis of Hajda's stage-directing style together with the developments in the program of Mahen Theater which, at that time, relied on interwar avant-garde and Brecht's poetics. Special attention is given to the developments of the artistic program of the theater and other personalities (Srba, Hynšt, Sokolovský a Kundera) that created it and made it happen at the same time. This work does not omit biographical data, as e.g. Hajda's pedagogical career at the Theater Faculty of the Janacek Academy of Music and Performing Arts, and presents a concise overview of his engagement in the 50s with the theaters of Uherské Hradiště, České Budějovice and Kladno (Municipal Theater) following his graduation at JAMU.
