Competitive Debating Method in Czech Schools

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá metodou soutěžní debaty v české škole. Práce je členěna na dvě části – teoretickou a empirickou. V teoretické části práce se zabývám charakteristikou, formami, rolemi učitele a žáka, přínosům, rizikům a potřebě metody soutěžní debaty v kontextu vyučování v české škole. V empirické části je mým cílem zodpovědět otázku, jak nahlíží čeští středoškolští učitelé na možnosti prosazení metody soutěžní debaty v české škole. Pro zodpovězení výzkumné otázky jsem použila kvalitativní výzkumné šetření – realizovala jsem hloubkové rozhovory se středoškolskými učiteli.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the competitive debating method in Czech schools. The thesis is divided into two parts – theoretical and empirical. The focus of the theoretical part is on characteristics, forms, teacher’s and student’s roles, benefits, drawbacks and the necessity of the competitive debating method in the context of the educational process within Czech schools. The goal in the empirical part of this thesis is to answer the question of how Czech high school teachers percieve the possibilities of using the competitive debating method in Czech schools. I used a qualitative research method and conducted in-depth interviews with high school teachers in order to answer the research question.
