Interaction of college students with electronic text: Analysis of reading and annotating process

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá interakcí vysokoškolských studentů s elektronickým textem. Teoretická část práce analyzuje proces čtení, popisuje základní druhy četby, definuje text a interakci s textem. Dále se teoretická část věnuje komparaci ručně psaného textu, tištěného textu a elektronického textu. Na konci teoretické části jsou uvedeny aspekty interakce s elektronickým textem a předchozí výzkumné poznatky v této oblasti. Součástí praktické části je kvalitativní výzkum, ve kterém byla předem vybraná skupina vysokoškolských studentů podrobena analýze jejich čtenářského chování v digitálním prostředí. Cílem bylo zjistit, jak vysokoškolští studenti čtou, poznámkují a pracují s elektronickými texty. Použity byly tři metody: polostrukturovaný rozhovor, fotodeník a kvalitativní analýza dokumentů.

Abstract:

Master thesis deals with the interaction of college students with electronic text. The theoretical part gives an analysis of reading process, describes basic types of reading, definition of text and text interaction. The theoretical part also deals with the comparison of handwritten text, printed text and electronic text. At the end of the theoretical part, the aspects of interaction with the electronic text and the previous research findings in this area are mentioned. The practical part includes qualitative research in which the pre-selected group of college students was subjected to analysis of their reading behaviour in digital environment. The aim was find how college students read, annotation, and work with electronic texts. The three research methods were used: semi-structured interview, photo-diary method and qualitative document analysis.
