Regeneration of Brownfield - Example of Remediation of the Former Freight Station Prague-Smíchov

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá procesem regenerace brownfieldů s důrazem na případovou studii bývalého nákladového nádraží Praha-Smíchov. Cílem je analyzovat a prezentovat multidisciplinární přístupy nezbytné pro úspěšnou transformaci znečištěných nebo opuštěných městských lokalit na hodnotné a udržitelné prostory. Práce se zaměřuje na klíčové fáze regeneračního procesu od počáteční analýzy přes plánování, sanaci, stavební práce až po reintegraci do městského prostředí. Důraz je kladen na multidisciplinární spolupráci, zapojení komunity, principy udržitelnosti a adaptability, a integraci do širšího městského kontextu. Cílem práce je nejen představit komplexní přehled procesu regenerace, ale také identifikovat faktory úspěchu a strategie pro budoucí projekty v České republice a mezinárodním kontextu.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the process of brownfield regeneration, emphasizing the case study of the former Smíchov railway station in Prague. The objective is to analyze and present multidisciplinary approaches essential for the successful transformation of polluted or abandoned urban sites into valuable and sustainable spaces. The study covers the key phases of the regeneration process from initial analysis through planning, remediation, construction works to the reintegration into the urban environment. Emphasis is placed on multidisciplinary collaboration, community engagement, principles of sustainability and adaptability, and integration into the broader urban context. The goal of the thesis is not only to provide a comprehensive overview of the regeneration process but also to identify success factors and strategies for future projects in the Czech Republic and an international context
