Association Beseda Kožlany and other cultural activities in Kožlany during the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o spolku Beseda v Kožlanech s přihlédnutím k tehdejší kulturní činnosti v regionu. Práce zachycuje období 2. poloviny 19. století, éru první republiky a pozdější pochmurnou část Československých dějin. V tomto časovém horizontu zažívala spolková činnost enormní nárůst členů a výše zmíněný spolek Beseda ovlivnil zásadním způsobem kulturní a společenský život v Kožlanech a okolí. Práce se tedy věnuje jeho historii, osobnostem, odborům a v neposlední řadě činnosti, která byla určujícím nejen pro spolek a město, ale dokonce i region, což práce představuje. Předkládaná diplomová práce tak demonstruje na konkrétním příkladu dějiny a vývoj značně mezioborového spolku od jeho geneze až po jeho postupné skomírání z důvodu emancipace jednotlivých odborů. V práci hraje stěžejní roli archivní výzkum a regionální literatura, protože spolek Beseda měl několik významných členů a pokoušel se začlenit mezi ostatní kulturně-osvětové spolky Kralovicka.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the Beseda association in Kožlany, taking into account the cultural activities in the region in that time period. The work records the period of the second half of the 19th century, the era of the First Republic and the later dismal chapter of Czechoslovak history. In this time period, the association's activities experienced an enormous increase in members and the above-mentioned Beseda association fundamentally experienced cultural and social life in Kožlany and its surroundings. The work therefore deals with its history, trade unions and, last but not least, the activities that were decisive not only for the association and the city, but even the region, which the work represents. The presented diploma thesis thus demonstrates on a specific example of the history and significant development of an interdisciplinary association from its genesis to its gradual fading due to the emancipation of individual departments. Archival research and regional literature play a key role in the work, because the Beseda association had several important members and tried to integrate it among other cultural and educational associations in the region of Kralovicko.
