Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on new teaching methods and aids when teaching cultural studies. It discusses cultural features in second language lessons, differences of various foreign cultures; moreover, it explains its necessity while talking to native speakers. The next part is aimed at the teaching methods and aids separately. The discussed methods are cooperative learning, learning with video, project work and drama activities. Each method deals with its usage in language learning, advantages and disadvantages, and roles of the teacher and the students. Practical part consists of 4 lesson plans. Each lesson plan includes notes for teachers, its piloting in the lesson, feedback and evaluation.
