Dental and Dental Prostheses Care of the Elderly in Outpatient Based Regime

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje péči o chrup a zubní náhrady u seniorské populace v ambulantním sektoru. V teoretické části práce je pojednáno o historii péče o chrup a jsou vymezeny anatomické a funkční změny chrupu ve stáří. Dále je věnována pozornost vybraným onemocněním orofaciální oblasti a podrobněji je pojednáno o ošetřování seniorů se zdravotním rizikem v rámci péče v zubních ambulancích. Dále je nastíněn i přehled dnes užívaných druhů zubních náhrad, možnosti a trendy v péči o tyto náhrady i o chrup obecně. Jsou zmíněna specifika edukace seniorů a vybraná preventivní a výživová doporučení v rámci stomatologie. V části aplikační je popsána organizace, metodika a analýza výsledků výzkumu zaměřeného na ověření teoretických znalostí správné péče o chrup/zubní náhradu u seniorů a jejich realizaci. Z metodologického hlediska bylo použito kvantitativní dotazníkové šetření a data byla statisticky zpracována

Abstract:

The thesis concerns both dental care and care of dental prostheses in senior population at ambulatory care centres. The theoretical part consists of several chapters. History of dental care, anatomical and functional changes of the set of teeth in the elderly are mentioned first. In the next part an attention is paied to specific diseases of orofacial region. Care of seniors with health risks at the ambulatory centres is described in more details subsequently. A summary of up-to-date dental prostheses and care of them and care of teeth in general follows. Specifics of education in seniors and selected preventive and nutritive recommendations concerning stomatology are mentioned in the end. The research part involves organization, methods and analysis of results gained in a research study aimed to find out theoretical knowledge of proper care of teeth or/and dental prostheses in the elderly and its practical realization. From the methodological point of view a quantitative survey was performed and the gained data were statistically evaluated.
