In Pursuit of Independence: Feminist Heroines in the Romantic and Early Victorian Fiction
Abstract:
This thesis focuses on the analysis of heroines in the selected novels written by Frances Burney, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë and Anne Brontë. The aim of this thesis is to establish the female protagonists as feminist heroines and to connect these novelists to the theory of Mary Wollstonecraft, acknowledging the influence of her ideas on some women writers.Abstract:
Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou hlavních hrdinek ve vybraných románech Frances Burney, Jane Austen, Charlotte Brontë a Anne Brontë. Cílem práce je ukázat hlavní ženské postavy coby feministické hrdinky a prokázat vliv Mary Wollstonecraft a jejích názorů na díla některých spisovatelek.
