Phantom of the Sudetes or Are there phantom borders delimitating Moravian and Silesian Sudetenland?

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zanalyzovat vybraná statistická data socioekonomických a kulturně-politických jevů, na jejichž základě můžeme rozhodnout, zdali je i po sedmdesáti letech od vyhnání Němců ze Sudet stále patrná pomyslná fantómová hranice mezi Sudetami a zbytkem Česka. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. Teoretická část je věnována definicí pojmu fantómové hranice, uvedení do kontextu případové studie a v krátkosti též důležitým historickým faktům. Praktická část je zaměřena na analýzu vybraných statistických dat spolu s kartografickým vyjádřením příslušné fantómové hranice.

Abstract:

The main objective of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of selected statistical data of various social-economical tendencies based on which decision can be made whether even after seventy years since the expulsion of Germans from Sudetenland, imaginary phantom borders between Sudetenland and the rest of the Czech Republic still prevail. Thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical part focuses on the definition of concept of phantom borders, setting up the context of a following case study and shortly also important historical background. Practical part focuses on the analysis of selected statistical data combined with the cartographical expression of specific phantom border.
