Porovnávanie tvarov a ich analýza je rýchlo sa rozrastajúce odvetvie, so širokým využitím. Jedným z najčastejších použití je porovnávanie dvoch modelov a určenie ich podobnosti, alebo porovnanie modelu s databázou a nájdenie najpodobnejšieho záznamu. Shape comparison and analysis is a quickly developing field, useable in many areas. One of the most common usages nowadays is to compare two meshes, to determine how much they differ, or to compare a mesh with a database, to find the closest match.
