Human Rights in Conflict Zones: A Case Study of Ukraine

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o porušování lidských práv v Luhanské a Doněcké oblasti v letech 2014-2021 a ruské okupaci Krymu a výše zmíněných částí Ukrajiny. Práce zkoumá vztah mezi bezpečností a hlavními formami porušování lidských práv prostřednictvím navázání komunikace s teoretickými rámci lidských práv a bezpečnosti. Vzhledem k tomu, že probíhající konflikt na Ukrajině vedl k četnému porušování lidských práv na obou stranách konfliktu, tato práce přibližuje klíčové události, které vedly ke zhoršení situace v oblasti lidských práv na Ukrajině v důsledku probíhajícího konfliktu, přičemž zvláštní pozornost věnuje identifikaci a diskuse o hlavních formách porušování lidských práv v daných oblastech Ukrajiny. Práce je příkladem případové studie kvalitativního typu, poskytující komplexní pohled na porušování lidských práv na Ukrajině, ke kterému dochází od roku 2014.

Abstract:

This B.A. thesis discusses human rights violations in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions in the period of 2014-2021 and the Russian occupation of Crimea and the aforementioned parts of Ukraine. The thesis examines the relationship between security and the main forms of human rights violations by establishing the communication with the theoretical frameworks of human rights and security. Since the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has led to numerous human rights violations on both sides of the conflict, this thesis approaches the key events that led to the deterioration of the human rights situation in Ukraine due to the ongoing conflict, paying particular attention to identifying and discussing the major forms of human rights violations in the given areas of Ukraine. The thesis is an example of a case study of qualitative type, providing a comprehensive view of human rights violations in Ukraine that have been taking place since 2014.
