Abstract:
Byzantine Empresses played a key role in society and especially in the imperial court. They were mothers of the heirs of the throne, thus securing the dynastic continuity, but also the holders of the official authority with which power was connected. Byzantské cisárovné zohrávali v spoločnosti a najmä na dvore kľúčovú úlohu. Boli nielen matkami následníkov trónu, a teda pokračovateľkami dynastie, ale aj držiteľkami oficiálneho úradu, ku ktorému sa viazala moc.
