Urbex photo: art on the edge of the law

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá výzkumem současného fenoménu urban exploration. Cílem této práce je zjistit, za jakým účelem a proč průzkumníci a fotografové pořizují fotografie z rozpadlých objektů a do jaké míry může mít vliv urbexová fotografie na budoucnost chátrajících budov. Teoretická část nejprve popisuje základní terminologii vztahující se k problematice urbexové fotografie. V další části práce pojednávám o historii a současnosti české i světové urbex fotografie, a poté urbexovým technikám, které podtrhují jejich tvorbu a důraz. V neposlední části se zabývám sociálním vlivem fotografií v dnešní době. Praktická část ukazuje vlastní soubor urbex fotografií, na kterých popisuji, co bylo záměrem a cílem ve výběru místa a fotografie.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the research of a modern-day phenomenon urban exploration. The aim of this work is to find out for what purpose and why explorers and photographers take photographs of broken objects and to what extent urbex photography can affect the future of dilapidated buildings. The theoretical part first describes the basic terminology related to the issue of urbex photography. In the next part, I deal with the history and present of Czech and world urbex photography, and then with urbex techniques that underline their creation and emphasis. Last but not least, I deal with the social impact of photography today. The practical part shows my own set of urbex photos, on which I describe what was the intention and the goal in the choice of place and photo.
