Biomass - Opportunity for Agriculture and Countryside?

Abstract:

Cílem politiky Evropské unie je zvýšit využívání obnovitelných zdrojů energie, mezi které patří biomasa. Implementace těchto cílů do české legislativy předpokládá větší nárůst podílu biomasy na výrobě energie. Biomasa totiž představuje asi 80% podíl z celkově využitého potenciálu obnovitelných zdrojů energie v rámci naší republiky. Energie z biomasy se získává i z cíleně pěstovaných rostlin – klasické zemědělské plodiny, nové energetické plodiny a rychle rostoucí dřeviny. S nástupem využívání biopaliv v dopravě, energetických plodin k výrobě tepla a elektřiny, se mění účel pěstování zemědělských plodin, které byly původně určeny k produkci potravin. Decentralizovaná energie z biomasy a pěstování energetických plodin může být pro zemědělce novým druhem hospodaření, novým či alternativním finančním příjmem, a může posílit prostředí venkova. Vyskytuje se otázka, zdali jsou samotní zemědělci ochotni pěstovat nové energetické plodiny. Předmětem teoretické části práce jsou ekologické, sociální a ekonomicko-politické souvislosti využívání biomasy pro energetické účely. Empirická část práce popisuje postoje zemědělců k pěstování biomasy. Zaměřuji se jak na zemědělce pěstující energetické plodiny, tak i na zemědělce nepěstující biomasu k energetickým potřebám.

Abstract:

One of the political aims of the European Union is to increase exploitation of renewable energy sources to which biomass belongs. It is expected that implementation of these aims into the Czech legislation will increase the biomass rate in the energy production. Biomass represents 80% of the whole used potential of renewable energy sources in the Czech Republic. Biomass energy is also obtained from plants which are grown in a targeted way - classical agricultural plants, new energy plants and Short Rotation Coppice. With the beginning of using biofuel in transport, of using energy plants for production of heat and electricity the purpose of growing agricultural plants which were determined for food production is being changed. Decentralized biomass energy and growing energy plants may become a new way of economy, new or alternative financial income for farmers. It can also strengthen the countryside environment. On the other side there is a question whether farmers are willing to grow new energy plants. The subject of the theoretical part of the thesis are ecological, social, economical and political connections in biomass exploitation regarding energy purposes. The empirical part of the thesis deals with farmers attitudes to biomass growing. The attention is paid to the farmers growing energy plants as well as to the farmers not growing biomass for energy use.
