Lišejníky, symbiotické společenství hub (mykobionta) a řas či sinic (fotobionta), dokáží přežít v extrémních podmínkách díky své schopnosti vyrovnat se s nepříznivými podmínkami prostředí jako je vysoká ozářenost, sucho a rozdílné teploty.
