Effect of surface contamination on the composition of the atmosphere in the technical collectors of Jihlava city

Abstract:

V historickém jádru města Jihlavy proběhl od května 2014 do ledna 2015 roční monitoring venkovní atmosféry a atmosféry uvnitř technických kolektorů. Na odebraných vzorcích (filtrech) byly zachyceny částice aerosolů, u nichž bylo studováno zbarvení, morfologie, velikostní a hmotnostní distribuce, chemické a minerální složení. Aerosoly byly složeny z hrubé frakce s velikostí částic nad 1 μm a jemné frakce pod 1 μm. Zastoupení morfologických typů částic klesalo v následujícím pořadí: ostrohranné > zaoblené > síťovité struktury. V aerosolech se objevily částice organického původu, složené pouze z O a C. Anorganický materiál byl prezentován částicemi s majoritním zastoupením Si, Ca a Al, zvýšenými obsahy Cl, S a výskytem těžkých kovů (Zn, Cu, Ni a Mn). Nejzřetelnější rozdíl mezi venkovním a vnitřním aerosolem byl vysoký obsahu Cl ve vnitřním aerosolu. Zásadní sezónní rozdíl představoval výskyt S v podzimním a zimním období, spojený s nástupem topné sezóny. Celkové koncentrace aerosolů byly v průběhu roku ve venkovní atmosféře výrazně vyšší, výjimkou bylo zimní období, kdy převyšovaly celkové koncentrace vnitřních aerosolů. Korelace celkových koncentrací aerosolů s venkovními a vnitřními teplotami ukázaly na odlišnou schopnost komunikace kolektoru s okolím pro různá roční období.

Abstract:

In the historical center of Jihlava city the surface atmosphere and atmosphere in the technical collectors was analyzed in the period from May 2014 to January 2015. The aerosol´s particles captured on the filtres were studied for colour, morphology, size and weight distribution, chemical and mineral composition. The Aerosols were composed of a coarse fraction with a particle size > 1 μm and a fine fraction < 1 μm. The morphological representation of the particles decreases in the following order angular > rounded > reticularstructure. In the aerosols was detected organic material, containing only O a C, and inorganic material that was represented by Si, Ca and Al as major elements, increased content of Cl, S and the occurrence of heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Ni, and Mn). Increased Cl content in the inner aerosol indicated the difference between surface and inner atmosphere. The most evident seasonal difference was the occurence of S, conected with heating period in autum and winter. The total concentration of inner aerosols was during the year significantly higher than surface aerosols, exception was the winter season, there occured reverse situation. Correlation of the total aerosol´s concentrations in the collector and inner/outer temperature indicated different ability of communication between collector and surface atmosphere during the year.
