Glucocorticoid and other nuclear receptors – their function and regulation by xenobiotics

Abstract:

Glukokortikoidní receptor je jeden z jaderných receptorů, který transkripčně reguluje širokou škálu fyziologických funkcí. PCB a i jiné exogenní látky působí jako endokrinní disruptory tím, že ovlivňují funkci steroidních receptorů. V této práci byly studovány efekty vybraných kongenerů PCB a dalších látek na glukokortikoidní receptor metodou GR – CALUX. Bylo sledováno, jak ovlivňují transkripci cílového genu – zda působí jako agonisté nebo antagonisté GR.

Abstract:

Glucocorticoid receptor is one of the nucleus receptors which transcriptionally regulates a wide range of physiological functions. PCB and other exogenous substances act as endocrine disruptors that affect the function of steroid receptors. In this paper, the effects of selected PCB congeners and other substances to the glucocorticoid receptor were studied by GR –CALUX method. It was observed how affects the transcription of target gene – if it is acting as agonists or antagonists of GR.
