The Specifics of Education of Patients with Dementia

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou edukace u pacientů s demencí, která je orientovaná na pečující osoby o pacienty s demencí a edukační proces ve zdravotnickém zařízení. Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit, jakým způsobem jsou edukováni příbuzní a pečovatelé pacientů s onemocněním demence hospitalizovaní na gerontopsychiatrických odděleních Psychiatrické nemocnice v Kroměříži. Práce se snaží zmapovat, jaké informace jsou nejčastěji příbuzným a pečujícím osobám poskytovány, zda jsou pokryty jejich edukační potřeby a jak jsou s poskytnutou edukací na gerontopsychiatrických odděleních spokojeni. Dále se snaží zjistit, jaké jsou problematické oblasti pro střední zdravotnický personál v rámci edukace osob pečujících o pacienty s demencí a jaký je náhled středního zdravotnického personálu na spolupráci s příbuznými a osobami pečujícími o pacienty s demencí. Teoretická část práce charakterizuje edukaci, její cíle, funkce, obsah a metody. Dále se věnuje diagnostice, druhům a především nefarmakologické léčbě demence. V kapitole poslední se zabývá psychickými, tělesnými a sociálními změnami ve stáří. Praktickou část tvoří kvantitativně orientovaný deskriptivní výzkum provedený dotazníkovým šetřením.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the issues of education for patients with dementia which is oriented towards people caring for patients with dementia and education process in a medical facility. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to find out the way of education for the relatives and carers for the patients with dementia who are hospitalized at gerontopsychiatric wards at Psychiatric hospital in Kroměříž. The thesis charts what kinds of information are given to relatives and carers, if their education needs are covered and how satisfied they are with the education provided at gerontopsychiatric wards. It also tries to find out the problem areas for mid-level health personnel within the education of carers for patients with dementia and the view of mid-level health personnel on the cooperation with relatives and carers for patients with dementia. The theoretical part describes education, its goals, functions, contents and methods. It also deals with diagnostics, kinds, and above all non pharmacological treatment for dementia. The last chapter is focused on the psy-chical, physical and social changes in old age. The practical part consists of quantitative descriptive research carried out by questionnaire survey.
