Conceptions of thruth and approach to client participation

Abstract:

Tématem práce je přístup sociálních pracovníků k participaci klienta v kontextu pojetí pravdy v moderním (objektivistickém) a postmoderním (relativistickém) hledisku. Na základě teoretického a empirického šetření autorka odpovídá na výzkumnou otázku jak komplex vnitřních faktorů působí na přístup sociálního pracovníka k participaci klienta. V komplexu vnitřních faktorů je stěžejní hledaná souvislost mezi ideálem symetrie, zvládáním dilematu pomoci a kontroly a mírou podpory participace klienta. Na základě analýzy empirických dat, autorka navrhuje typologii rozdílných způsobů zvládání dilematu pomoci a kontroly a vlivu na sklon podporovat participaci klienta. Snaží se tak předložit argumenty ve prospěch postmoderní (relativistické či sociálně konstrukcionistické) pozice směrem k reflexivnímu posílení expertní role klienta v procesu intervence a přijetí nejistoty, jako jádra profesionality a hledání „pravdy“ v dialogu.

Abstract:

The topic of the thesis is an approach of social workers in the light of conceptions of truth from the modern and postmodern point of view. By employing theories as well as collecting and analyzing empirical data the author is answering the research question how complex of inner factors influence social worker’s approach to client participation. The thesis focus on connectedness among ideal pattern of symmetry, tackling the dilemma between “help” and “control” and supporting client participation. On the basis of theoretical and empirical data analysis the author propose typology of copping the dilemma and its influence on the tendency to include client to decision making. The author tries to bring forward arguments for postmodern reflexive practice and reinforcing the expert role of the client and take into uncertainty as a core of proficiency and as well as an effort to find “the truth” in dialog.
