Minorites in Krnov and their contribution to the art of the town Krnov

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá působením minoritského řádu v Krnově. V úvodu je zpracována obecná historie tohoto řádu a jeho působení v českých zemích. Dále se práce soustředí na působení minoritů ve městě Krnově a na dva kostely, které si zde nechali postavit. Jedná se o pokus o souhrnné zpracování zaměřené na podíl minoritů na výtvarné kultuře města, a to prostřednictvím těchto minoritských kostelů, zejména v barokní době. Jedná se o kostel Narození Panny Marie, který přiléhá ke klášteru, a poutní kostel Sedmibolestné Panny Marie a Povýšení sv. Kříže. Je zde popsána jak jejich historie, tak hlavně výzdoba, která vznikla během 17. a 18. století. Popis se zaměřuje nejen na výzdobu freskovou, ale také sochařskou.

Abstract:

This thesis addresses the influence of the Minorite Order in Krnov. In the introductory section, the author elaborates on the general history of the Order and its impact in the Bohemian lands. Furthermore, the thesis focuses on the influence of the Minorites in Krnov and on two churches they let themselves built. The thesis attempts to elaborate on the involvement of the Minorites in the town´s culture of art by means of the Minorite churches, mostly in the Baroque era. This is the case of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, adjacent to the cloister, and of the pilgrimage Church of Our Lady of Sorrows and Holy Cross. Their history as well as decoration created in the 17th and 18th centuries is described in the thesis. This description focuses not only on the wall paintings but also on the sculptures.
