Polish Silesian dialect in The Czech Republic

Abstract:

The submitted graduation thesis is aimed at the dialect of Polish minority group living in Czech Republic, in the region of Těšín Silesia. The Těšín Silesia is very complicated territory with regard to historical development as well as considering linguistic point of view. Difficult political progress of Těšín Silesia reflects significantly in the evolution of the language used in this region. Notice that if someone was born before 1920 on the left bank of the river Olše, he became gradually a citizen of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, the Czechoslovak Republic, the Polish Republic, the German Empire, the Czechoslovak Socialistic Republic and since 1993 the Czech Republic. That is why, there is introduced history, development of education and official languages in the region of Těšín Silesia in the submitted thesis. Without the above mentioned topics the view of linguistic diversity of this region would not be complete.

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce se zabývá nářečím polské menšiny žijící v České Republice na území Těšínského Slezska. Těšínské Slezsko je velmi složitým územím jak z pohledu historického vývoje, tak rovněž z pohledu jazykovědného. Složitý politický vývoj Těšínského Slezska se výrazně odráží na vývoji jazyka užívaného na tomto území. Všimněme si, že jestli se někdo narodil před rokem 1920 na levé straně řeky Olše, byl postupně obyvatelem Rakousko-Uherské Monarchie, Československé Republiky, Polské Republiky, Německé Říše, Československé Socialistické Republiky a od roku 1993 České Republiky. Proto je v předkládané práci rovněž představena historie, rozvoj školství a vývoj úředních jazyků, na území Těšínského Slezska. Bez výše uvedených témat by pohled na jazykovou odlišnost tohoto území nebyl úplný.
