Interparental Conflict and Child Self-Blame

Abstract:

Práce je zaměřena na jednu z dimenzí vnímání rodičovského konfliktu, a to na pocity sebeobviňování dítěte za vznik hádek v období střední adolescence. Věnuji se hledání souvislostí mezi tendencí k obviňování se za konflikt a dětskými problémy internalizovaného a externalizovaného typu. Zjišťuji také souvislosti mezi sebeobviňováním dítěte a vztahy s vrstevníky. V teoretické části se nejprve zabývám konfliktem rodičů a jeho percepcí dítětem a představuji teorie vnímání rodičovského konfliktu, kterými jsou kognitivně- kontextuální rámec a teorie emoční jistoty. Dále se zaměřuji na sebeobviňování jako na faktor mající efekt na vztah mezi rodičovským konfliktem a problémy s adaptací dítěte. Pozornost je věnována také tendencím k sebeobviňování v souvislosti s charakteristikami dítěte. Nakonec se zabývám vzájemným vztahem konfliktu rodičů a sebeobviňování a jeho spojitostí se vztahy s vrstevníky, s dětskými problémy internalizovaného typu, jako je zvýšená míra neuroticismu a problémy externalizovaného typu, jako je školní neúspěšnost. Ve výzkumu byla použita metoda CPIC (Škála dětské percepce konfliktu mezi rodiči), Dotazník citové vazby s vrstevníky, Dotazník NEO-FFI (škála Neuroticismus) a Dotazník rizikového chování (škála Rizikové chování ve vztahu ke škole). V korelační studii byla nejvýznamnější souvislost zjištěna mezi sebeobviňováním a některými aspekty vztahu s vrstevníky a také mezi sebeobviňováním a neuroticismem. Statisticky významný byl také vztah mezi sebeobviňováním a školní neúspěšností. Na závěr zmiňuji limity výzkumu.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on a perception of parental conflict dimension and what feelings the middle adolescence children have when self-blame themselves for being in charge of their parents’ arguments. The attention is paid to exploring connections between a tendency of self-blame for a conflict and children’s problems of both types, internalizational and externalizational. It has been found out also the existence of connections between children’s self-blame and contemporaries’ relationships. In the theoretical part there is the parental conflict examined with its child’s perception. Moreover, there are introduced theories of parental conflict perception, namely a cognitive-contextual framework and an emotional security theory. Further, the self-blame is observed as an influential factor affecting the relationship between the parental conflict and problems of child adaptation. The thesis deals also with tendencies of self-blame in a connection with child characteristics. Finally, a relationship of interparental conflict is presented in a connection with contemporaries’ relationships, children’s problems of internalizational type like higher levels of neuroticism, and problems of externalizational type like children’s unsuccessfulness at school. In the research there has been used CPIC method (Children's Perception of Interparental Conflict Scale), Questionnaire of Emotional Attachment contemporaries, NEO-FFI Questionnaire (Neuroticism scale) and Problem Behaviour Questionnaire (Problem Behaviour Scale related to school environment). The most significant connection has been found out in a correlative study between self-blame and some of contemporaries’ relationships aspects. Another one has been found out between self-blame and unsuccessfulness at school. At the end of the thesis, limits of the research have been mentioned.
