The aim of the present thesis is the analysis of English and Czech idioms containing plant lexeme. First part of the thesis explores different definitions of the notion of idiom. In the next part, the group of plant idioms is introduced and divided into subgroups. Then, the analysis of corpus of English and Czech idioms with the same meaning is provided.
