The Star -Spangled Banner: The Meaning and Role of the American Flag

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on one of the American national symbols ? the American flag, also called The Star-Spangled Banner. In the thesis, there is the flag?s design and history of the flag outlined shortly, from the beginning in 1776 to these days. The important parts of the thesis are also the chapters about the Flag Code, Flag Etiquette and the Flag Folding Ceremony. In the thesis, there is the role of the American flag in the arts, for example in painting, described as well.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na jeden z amerických státních symbolů ? americkou vlajku nazvanou Hvězdami posázená zástava. V práci je stručně nastíněn její design a okolnosti vzniku tohoto symbolu. Hlavním tématem bakalářské práce je význam americké vlajky a role, kterou sehrála od dob svého vzniku až po současnost. Důležitou součastí práce je také zákon o vlajce, vlajková etiketa a ceremoniál skládání vlajky. V práci je popsána i role vlajky, kterou sehrála v umění, například v malířství.
