Abstract:

„Vkusné & solidní“. Měšťanské sochařství v Brně 1800–1880. Práce představuje dosud málo známé brněnské měšťanské sochaře, jejichž životní osudy a umělecká tvorba zahrnují rozmezí let 1800 – 1880. Ačkoliv lze říci, že tématům spjatým s moravským uměním období historismu je v současnosti věnována vyšší odborná pozornost než dříve, v případě brněnského měšťanského sochařství chyběl dosud ucelený výzkum. Na základě rozsáhlých rešerší archivních pramenů a dobového tisku jsme tak nabídli souhrn jisté sumy poznatků opírající se zejména o biografické studium jednotlivých osobností. Neméně významné bylo také začlenění získaných faktografických údajů do širších kontextuálních souvislostí a zhodnocení brněnského měšťanského sochařství z obecnějšího hlediska, s přihlédnutím ke kulturně-historickým a ekonomicko-sociálním dimenzím tohoto tématu. Disertace přispívá k plastičtějšímu a více diferencovanému pohledu na lokální brněnskou uměleckou scénu v období 19. století a dále upozorňuje na dosud málo známou problematiku německy hovořících regionálních umělců žijících v této době v moravských městech.

Abstract:

„Tasteful & solid“. Bourgeoisie sculpture in Brno 1800-1880. This work presents little known Brno sculptors whose life and work span between 1800–1880. Even though the subjects connected to the Moravian art of the historicism era have recently been given increased attention of the experts, in case of Brno bourgeoisie sculpture a comprehensive research has yet been missing. Based on an extensive search of archival sources and contemporary press we offer a sum of knowledge structured alongside the biographic data of individual characters. Of no lesser importance is the incorporation of the acquired factual data into the broader context as well as the evaluation of the Brno bourgeoisie sculpture from the wider perspective with cultural-historical and socio-economical considerations. The dissertation represents a contribution to a more plastic and differentiated view of the local Brno nineteenth century art space as well as a reminder of the still insufficiently explored issue of German speaking regional artists living in Moravian towns of the time.
