Private Speech and Activity Type in Preschool Children

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vztahem mezi soukromou řečí a typem aktivity v předškolním věku. Dvacet čtyřletých a pětiletých dětí bylo sledováno během uzavřené aktivity (skládání maňáska podle předlohy) a otevřené aktivity (volná hra s maňáskem). Předškolní děti byly pozorovány v přirozených podmínkách (v jejich třídách). Soukromá řeč získaná pozorováním byla kódovaná podle obsahu. Užit byl kategorizační systém Krafftové a Berkové (1998). Dále byl spočítán počet promluv za minutu. Hypotézy byly testovány t-testem pro závislé výběry. V souladu s Vygotského teorií, že je otevřená aktivita důležitá pro rozvoj seberegulace, bylo v této studii zjištěno, že zkoumané osoby užívaly více soukromé řeči v průběhu otevřené aktivity oproti aktivitě uzavřené. Na závěr byly navrženy možné implikace výsledků a témata pro budoucí výzkumy.

Abstract:

This elaboration deals with the relationship between private speech and activity type in preschool children. Twenty 4- and 5-years old children were observed during closed-ended activity (construction of a puppet according to model) and open-ended activity (free play with the puppet). Preschoolers were observed in the naturalistic preschool context (in their classrooms). Observations were coded for children’s private speech according to content. Categorization system of Krafft and Berk (1998) was used. Further utterances per minute were counted. Scores were then analyzed using repeated measures (within-subjects) t-test to explore study hypotheses. Consistent with Vygotsky’s theory that open-ended activity serves as a vital context for the development of self-regulation this study found that participants utilized more private speech during open-ended activity than closed-ended activity. Finally possible implications of results and themes for future researches were suggested.
