The effects of a dog on emotional health for individuals with multiple disabilities

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je působení psa na emoční stránku jedince s kombinovaným postižením. První kapitola s názvem Charakteristika osoby s kombinovaným postižením definuje jednotlivé pojmy, odborné termíny a jednotlivé druhy postižení. Druhá kapitola se zabývá emocemi a jejich rozdělením. Poslední kapitola teoretické části má název Canisterapie a popisuje metody, formy, techniky, metody a fáze canisterapeutických lekcí. Výzkumná část této práce je zaměřena na terapie psem. Hlavním cílem bylo analyzovat působení psa na emoce jedince s kombinovaným postižením během canisterapie. Pro dosažení potřebných dat byl využit kvalitativní výzkum a konkrétně metoda pozorování a rozhovor. Získaná data během pozorování potvrdila, že u zkoumaných jedinců převažují pozitivní emoce při terapii psem, ale častokrát se u nich objevuje strach. V rozhovorech popisovali pedagogové zkoumaných klientů změny emocí před a po canisterapeutické lekci a výsledky pozorování potvrdili. V práci bylo zkoumáno několik dalších dílčích cílů, jejichž data byla sepsána a vyhodnocena v závěru výzkumného šetření.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is the impact of dogs on the emotional state of individuals with multiple disabilities. The first chapter, titled "Characteristics of Individuals with Multiple Disabilities," defines various terms, professional terminology, and different types of disabilities. The second chapter focuses on emotions and their classification. The final chapter of the theoretical part is titled "Canine Therapy" and describes the methods, forms, techniques, and phases of canine therapy sessions. The research part of this work is focused on dog therapy. The main objective was to analyze the effect of dogs on the emotions of individuals with multiple disabilities during canine therapy. Qualitative research was used to obtain the necessary data, specifically the method of observation and interviews. The data collected during observation confirmed that positive emotions prevail among the individuals examined during dog therapy, but fear is often present. In interviews, educators described changes in emotions observed in clients before and after canine therapy sessions, confirming the results of the observations. Several additional specific objectives were investigated in the thesis, and their data were compiled and evaluated at the conclusion of the research study.
